About Exploring Oklahoma with Children

What could be more fun than a spur-of-the-moment, just load in the kids and go vacation? Getting away from the distractions, enjoying quality time experiencing something new—together.

The Exploring Oklahoma with Children project began over 10 years ago when MetroFamily Magazine publisher, Sarah Taylor, wrote a book of the same title. Over 40,000 copies of the book were sold in the late-1990s.

Since 2000, Taylor has published Central Oklahoma's award-winning family magazine, MetroFamily Magazine. MetroFamily has consistently emphasized the Exploring Oklahoma theme through a monthly column, a comprehensive calendar, weekly E-Updates with the latest weekend ideas for family fun, listings for seasonal festivals, and a huge on-line calendar.

The ExploringOK.com site is an outgrowth of our commitment to provide families throughout the area with ideas for memory-making family trips and outings. Included in the site are 12 Adventure Trips, complete with articles to read from our Exploring Oklahoma columns, and many valuable web links that will give you even more details to plan your family fun. In addition, there is a fun game to enjoy with your child, a giveaway contest, a Kids Pass with discounts to download, and ideas for family festivals to enjoy.

We invite your feedback. Was your experience when you visited an Oklahoma destination a good one? Do you have suggestions for other families that would improve their experience as they visit? Do you know of attractions and events that you'd like to share with our readers? There's a comment button on every page. Let us know what you think and we'll share it with our readers. And check back often; this site will be updated daily with the latest information.

This web site would not be possible without the gracious support of our corporate sponsors and tourism partners. Special thanks to Oklahoma Parks and Resorts, Oklahoma Tourism Department, and the Heartland Flyer.

We thank you for visiting and hope you have fun Exploring Oklahoma with your children! And be sure to check out our monthly magazine, our web site, and sign up for our weekly E-Update, designed to provide our subscribers with the info they need to plan family fun for the upcoming weekend.
